Neo Musics 10 Risers for 2023

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

As January is taking its sweet time to come to an end, we thought we would update date you with ten artists who this will rise in 2023, of course this is in no particular order but the order we have saved the names as we have been stalking the artists across socials and DSPs.

These artists have stood out to use for various reason and we are thoroughly enjoying how they are finding themselves as artists and developing their artistry and themselves as artists.

1.RAHEAVEN

North Londoner Raheaven grew up listening to a myriad of music, from Eritrean chanteuse Elsa Kidane to R&B stalwart Beyoncé, while she figured out life as a second-generation immigrant and eldest daughter – aka the glue that holds society together.

As the child of Eritrean immigrants who formed a band with friends to raise money for the Eritrean independence effort, music and performance has consistently weaved itself into her daily life.

This has included everything from playing the steel pans for over a decade to joining her school’s drama club. Indeed, Raheaven credits going to an all-girls school for her no-nonsense outlook on life and music

We absolutely love Raheaven and had the privilege of her coming down to perform for us at our 'Neo Nights' at the end of last year as had the audience in a chokehold with her sensational voice! Check out her single '7AM' which we are completely obsessed about down below

2.LIZZIE BERCHIE

Lizzie Berchie is a talented singer-songwriter from East London. She is part of the new wave of artists redefining neo-soul with bold and unapologetic messages. Last summer, she delivered a sensational debut EP Under the Sun, which does just that through a series of first-person narratives.

From the UK to Ghana, the artist channels the voices of women at different periods in their lives, calling attention to their experiences.

We recently got to see Lizzie Berchie perform live at 'The State Of R&B awards' and her voice blew the room away. Her raw natural talent is undeniable and has definitely caught our attention.

Check out our favourite single of Lizzie Berchie 'Pass Time' which features the equally talented Kofi Stone

She has been featured on BBC London, the BBC 1Xtra Touchdown Tour, BBC Introducing, and DJ Ace’s R&B show, and has performed at venues in London and Manchester, including The Jazz Café and Pie Radio. Raelle previously performed at our 'Neo Nights' and her voice is out of this world.
