Debbie - Cherry wine

“My sweet cherry wine, I need you by my side Because I'm feeling the pressure tonight”, we

can all relate to the occasional need of the help of Wray and his nephews, a shot of tequila

or a cheeky cider as a bout of Dutch courage at times where were out and need to activate

our most extroverted self. Debbie encapsulates this notion, cradling her bottle of “Cherry

Wine” as a means of coaxing her social anxiety on a night out.

Debbie encapsulates this notion, cradling her bottle of “Cherry Wine” as a means of coaxing her social anxiety on a night out. “Sometimes I feel alone in a room full of people - it’s like the ultimate brain fog, and I can’t seem to get past my mental block and just socialise. Cherry Wine is me talking about how I can be awkward at times and need some dutch courage (aka Cherry Wine) in order to relax and get comfortable.” -Debbie states on the inspiration behind the record.

Her story-telling abilities are evident in how she takes us through her experience at the party stanza into chorus – her soulful voice brings us in and holds us in the warmth of the base of her voice and tone. The falsetto use in the (normally structurally abandoned) pre-chorus almost serves as a hook as

it brings texture to the track – this London born and bred singer-songwriter has brought a

nostalgic old-school RnB feel back into the UK RnB scene in the best way. Riding off the

success of her debut track “Is This Real Love?”, Debbie is going from strength to strength in

her artistry – and she’s only 22!

We cannot wait to see what else Debbie has in store for us, as we know that this is just the beginning for her!
