South London’s finest Che Lingo returns with a brand new track titled “VIBE CHECK (Palo
Santo)”.
Characterised by his captivating lyricism and wordplays, Che has been honing his sound
and paving his own lane, blending alternative rap with grime, trap and R&B flavours, with his 2020 debut album ‘The Worst Generation’ making a real mark in the UK rap scene.
“Walking alone is better than walking blind”, Che Lingo noted on his Instagram upon
announcing the track’s release. Vibe Check (Palo Santo) emphasises the need to protect the
energy around you in order to progress and survive.
Released on Idris Elba’s label 7Wallace, the release was accompanied by mesmerising
visuals, showing Che in the middle of a desert, underlining the theme of ‘survival’.
Speaking further on the meaning behind the song, Che Lingo comments: “I was chilling with
a lot of homies that were burning this wood (Palo Santo) at one point. The smell reminded
me of when I was young, and things were clearer in the world. In life, if you learn anything as
you grow, it’s that your environment and people can change in a heartbeat, so staying
vigilant amidst the chaos outside is the best chance at both survival and evolution.”
